RCT Systems, Power Systems Division, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to specialize in the integration and development of microcontroller, DSP, and FPGA systems. The role involves designing and testing power electronics for advanced SiC-based converters and embedded control systems. On-site presence is necessary in our Baltimore, MD Corporate Headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and test SiC-based power electronic converter topologies (e.g., active rectifiers, DC-DC converters, solid-state transformers, high-speed motor drives)
- Develop DSP-based control algorithms and FPGA-supported pulse-width modulators
- Create digital control PCBs integrating FPGAs, A/D converters, and communication protocols (CAN, RS485, Modbus, fiber)
- Design embedded control algorithms (e.g., harmonic compensators, PLLs)
- Build Controller-Hardware-in-the-Loop (CHIL) setups and test systems
Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (3.3+ GPA). MS/PhD preferred
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Power Systems or Power Electronics
- Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required (ITAR restrictions)
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with motor drives, AC-DC/DC-AC converters, and embedded software
- Proficiency in microcontroller, DSP, and FPGA programming (TI C2000 DSPs, Altera FPGAs preferred)
- Experience with HIL platforms (OPAL-RT, Typhoon, etc.)
Current Projects:
- Design of high-power SiC and silicon power devices for 50-500 kW converters
- Multi-megawatt converter systems for Defense and aircraft applications
- Real-time model implementation for modular multi-level converters
RCT Systems offers:
- Competitive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance)
- Immediate 401(k) vesting
- Generous PTO and flexible schedules
- $500.00 annual technology allowance
