Software Developer Expert- $206K – $223K

Reston, VA
RCT is seeking a senior-level Software Developer SME to support a large (200+ FTE) program. This role focuses on full-lifecycle software development, system design, cloud application development, and ongoing operations and maintenance for mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain complex software systems
  • Provide database architecture and software system design support
  • Analyze user requirements and assess design feasibility (cost, time, performance)
  • Develop unit, integration, and functional test plans; conduct testing and validation
  • Maintain and enhance operational systems; troubleshoot and correct software issues
  • Lead or coordinate installation, deployment, and monitoring of software systems
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, code comments, and user guides
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, customers, and leadership on system design
  • Guide and review work of other programming personnel
  • Design, develop, and migrate applications within cloud environments
Required Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • BS degree with 11–15 years of relevant experience
  • Strong experience in Java, JavaScript, Python, and/or XML
  • Web application development and cloud services experience
  • Proficiency in Windows and/or Unix environments
  • Experience with Git or similar code repositories
  • Strong documentation skills; familiarity with unit and integration testing
Desired Qualifications:
  • Spring framework and Java expertise
  • Database experience (e.g., PostgreSQL)
  • Agile development experience
  • Docker, Kubernetes, and scalable/parallel architectures
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Passion for learning new technologies
  • Familiarity with Intelligence Community customers and mission priorities
