Software Q.A. Spec./App Tester - $140K – $170k

Herndon, VA
Seeking a senior-level QA/Test Automation professional to support multiple software applications ranging from legacy systems to emerging technologies. The role focuses heavily on automated testing development in Java, while also performing manual testing when automation is not practical. The tester will collaborate with developers and may assist with performance/load testing efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts.
  • Perform manual testing for scenarios unsuitable for automation.
  • Create and execute test plans, test cases, procedures, and test scenarios.
  • Validate application functionality, data integrity, and system behavior.
  • Analyze requirements independently and develop tests for both expected workflows and failure conditions.
  • Conduct testing using repeatable, industry-standard QA methodologies.
  • Maintain test environments and ensure testing aligns with security vulnerabilities and best practices.
  • Support performance and load testing initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Strong Java development skills with emphasis on coding automated tests.
  • Expert-level experience with Selenium WebDriver.
  • SQL proficiency for data validation using databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Experience using IDEs such as IntelliJ, Eclipse, or NetBeans.
  • Linux experience including Bash scripting and command-line tools.
  • Strong background in both manual and automated testing.
  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter.
  • Ability to independently assess requirements and engineer comprehensive test coverage.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-changing technical environment.
