Systems Administrator - $181K – $199k

Reston, VA
This position supports a government sponsor's Identity and Access Management (IDAM/ICAM) services. The administrator will help design, implement, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure in AWS, provide technical leadership to development teams, and ensure mission-critical systems remain operational. The role includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation (approximately one week every two months).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical implementation and provide engineering guidance.
  • Administer and support Linux-based systems in AWS environments.
  • Perform security patching and system maintenance.
  • Support cloud-native service architectures and enterprise software solutions.
  • Maintain high-availability services, including LDAP-based attribute services used by numerous customer systems.
  • Collaborate with development, security, compliance, QA, and engineering teams.
  • Support DevOps and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree plus 11–15 years of relevant experience.
  • Expert-level Linux administration and strong Bash scripting skills.
  • Experience with:
    • AWS cloud services and administration.
    • Security accreditation/compliance processes.
    • Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats).
    • Infrastructure as Code and cloud architecture concepts.
    • Agile environments and DevOps tools (GitHub, Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, Rundeck, etc.).
    • AWS Console and CLI.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to support privileged-access duties and on-call operations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Associate-level certification or higher.
  • Kubernetes/Container certifications (especially CKAD).
  • Experience with LDAP technologies.
  • Experience handling highly sensitive data.
  • C2S experience (3+ years).
  • CloudFormation expertise.
  • IAM/IdAM/ICAM, authentication, authorization, and attribute-management experience.
  • Experience with Tomcat.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and requirements gathering.
