Quality Manager

As the Quality Manager you will manage our ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and will be responsible for our company's compliance to our QMS. Depending on your experience and interest, the role may extend to managing QA inspectors, but the primary role and immediate need is direct management of the QMS system for compliance both internally and with our suppliers. You are expected to know and own all aspects of the QMS and will report to the President of the company, as well as the SVP of Engineering.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manages the QMS system and ensures accurate and current documentation.
  2. Using hands-on management, directs the daily quality control activities.
  3. Monitors and engages suppliers for compliance to QMS.
  4. Ensures appropriate training of all team members to QMS and specific job functions.
  5. Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and formulas; confers with appropriate staff to determine quality and reliability standards required.
  6. Supports testing of products at specified stages in the production process for various quality criteria, including dimensions, performance, and mechanical/electrical characteristics.
  7. Writes quality program documentation, including quality plans, incoming inspection instructions, and new product inspection techniques.
  8. Works with customers and suppliers to define appropriate acceptable quality levels (AQLs).
  9. Assists Purchasing Department with maintaining appropriate vendor quality.
  10. Communicates with internal and external customers verbally and in writing regarding quality standards and specifications.
  11. Identifies quality-related customer issues and develops Corrective Action and Preventative Action plans.
  12. Coordinates and performs dimensional analysis, initial inspections, Material Review Board (MRB) activities, etc.
  13. Oversees ISO 9001 and Internal Audits.
  14. Coordinates annual 3rd party internal audits.
  15. Oversees in-house Quality Assurance Team (ideally).

Basic Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related STEM field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of direct QA experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance. US Citizenship Required.
  • Solid written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills - including ability to establish and maintain positive working relationship team members, stakeholders, and customers at all levels
  • Understanding of and commitment to an integrated Quality Management System
  • Experience with ISO 9001, GMP and GLP

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Experience leading projects and inspiring teams
  • Previous experience working in quality, supply chain, program management, engineering, or manufacturing
  • Defense industry experience, including interface with government customers
  • Experience facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
