Power Electronics Engineers (All experience levels)
RCT Systems, Power Systems Division, is seeking Electrical Engineers specializing in Power Electronics Hardware and/or Control Design. More specifically, Power Electronics Engineers will be involved in:
• Design and testing of SiC based power electronic converter topologies including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state-transformers, and high-speed motor drives
• Design and test DSP based digital control algorithms, FPGA supported modulators, and PLC based high-level system controllers
• Detailed PCB designs including SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and support hardware
• Design and test low (1.2 - 1.7 kV) and medium voltage (3.3 – 10 kV) SiC semiconductor modules
• Design embedded control algorithms, harmonic compensators, software PLLs, and other embedded algorithms
• Develop Controller-Hardware-in-the-Loop test setups, control cards, and control algorithms
• Experience with medium voltage power distribution, solid-state-transformers, surge protection, and medium voltage isolation requirements highly desirable
Minimum Requirements:
• United States Citizenship preferred due to US Government ITAR program restrictions; Green Card holders accepted
• BS in electrical engineering, computer science, or related major required, MS and PhDs a plus
• Active Security Clearance a plus
• All experience levels considered – entry level to senior principal engineers
• Experience designing motor drives, ac-dc, and dc-ac converters
• Experience applying embedded software to motor drives, ac-dc, and dc-ac converters
• Experience programming various microcontrollers and DSPs a plus
• Hand-on experience with OPAL-RT, Typhoon, or other HIL platforms a plus
Immediate Requirements/Projects include:
• High Power SiC and Silicon power device design into converters/inverters
• EMI/EMC MIL 461 Compliance and other MIL spec design requirements
• Multiple parallel/series connected bi-directional galvanically isolated AC/DC, DC/DC converters
• 13.8 kV and 4160V grid interface power converters
• MV Isolated DC-DC converters
• Power levels 50kW to 500kW converters/inverters that are linked together for higher power levels up in MWs
• Navy (surface & sub), Army vehicles and infrastructure, Aircraft potentially
• Space/RF not required
